Aidan and Morgana had worn down the path through the woods to a clearing lined with golden flowers. It was a perfect spot for the twins to dance and practice without the watchful eyes of others. A lot of times the O'Kearney kids came out here together, but when Aidan woke up from his nap, Morgana was gone, so he left by himself.

Aidan pushed back the last tree branch and stepped into the clearing. Sometimes random campers were here having a picnic or something else, so Aidan was relieved when the field was entirely empty, sans a stray arrow from some games that had been played in the woods. Aidan threw his bag down next to the arrow in the ground and pulled the arrow out of the ground, tossing it onto his bag. Arrows were always welcome in the Apollo cabin.

Aidan kicked his flip-flops off and pulled a green hoodie off, revealing a red shirt from his old rugby team. He pulled his phone out of his hoodie pocket and put it into the pocket of his black jogger. The son of Apollo bent down and unzipped the front pocket of his bag and pulled out a portable speaker out. He flipped the power button on and linked it to his phone. Aidan pulled his phone out and started a playlist of various music.

The O'Kearney boy walked out to the center of the clearing as he started to stretch. He stretched through the remainder of the first song. The second song started and was an upbeat dance song. Aidan began free-styling along o the music, slowly working a lot of flips and tricks into his free-styling. The next song had a very similar feel, but the following song slowed down drastically. The song was a song him and Morgana had done with their dance crew back in Ireland, and he fell into his routine from that dance.

Delaney walked through the woods with her bag slung over her shoulder and her hair falling from her bun. She had earbuds in, blasting pop music just so she could get classical piano out of her head. She had spent all morning at the theatre, in class and then rehearsing. Now she was just walking through the woods so as to take as long as possible before having to see another person.

The ABT studio company was putting on Peter Pan this season, and since she was one of the older and more experienced members of the company, she had been chosen to play Tinkerbell. Wendy had gone to the girl who was even more experienced than she. As a result, she had spent almost half of the rehearsal strapped to literal wires that were supposed to hold her up for half the show. It was one thing to dance on the floor, but being three feet off the ground and trying to do an attitude turn was somewhat difficult.

Delaney stopped in her tracks when she heard a different song managing to get its way past the headphones. She pulled her earbuds out, turning her head to the source of the noise. There was a clearing she had never seen before, with golden flowers lining the perimeter. She was somewhat intrigued, straying closer to the edge to get a view what was happening inside.

There was a boy, and he was dancing. It was different than how she danced. ABT did some modern dancing, but it was antiquated compared to what he was doing. She watched for a moment, silent, studying the way he moved. His flips were good, he got more air than most of the guys in her company. She found herself walking closer, adjusting the strap of her bag on her shoulder.

"Hey." Delaney said, "Nice moves."

Aidan closed his eyes and smiled lightly. He felt the music's beat in his bones. This ability to feel music, a gift from their father, is what made Aidan and Morgana such good dancers when they were young, and made it possible for them to get as good as they are. The son of Apollo took a deep breath and took a deep breath, prepping for his big trick. He prepped and moved into his trick, right when his feet left the ground he heard,

"Hey. Nice moves."

Aidan let out a slight yelp and felt his feet miss the landing, and slammed face first into the groaned, and punched the ground lightly, swearing in Irish. He pushed up off the ground and got up. He dusted some dirt off of his knees and then wiped his hands clean. He turned in the direction of the voice. Aidan looked her up and down.

"Yes, I'm good, in all in anyways. Thanks for asking." Aidan teased, slipping his hands into his pockets.

The son of Apollo pulled his phone out of the pocket and pressed pause, the music from the speaker stopped abruptly. Aidan slid his phone back into his pocket, and started moving towards the girl. She was probably 4-5 inches shorter than him and her hair was in a bun, a look that a dancer like Aidan was very use to seeing. When Aidan got over to her, he asked,

"Just roaming through the woods, ay?" Aidan asked with a strong Irish accent.

Delaney gave him a noncommittal shrug, "Roaming is one word for it. I like to call it avoiding my cabinmates." God, living in a cabin with all the other children of the minor love gods was infuriating. Sure, some of them were okay and managed to have a normal personality, but the rest of them just lived within their stereotypes. She didn't need to walk into her cabin and get a lung full of Chanel N°5 and then have to hear her bunkmate talk about the guy she was dating and how absolutely sweet he is.

"What about you?" she asked, "Do you normally dance in the middle of the woods in the mud?" she kicked the dirt around, scrunching her nose. She didn't like the idea of dancing in the dirt, only thinking about how hard it'd be to get those stains out of her tights and toe shoes. Plus the softness of the ground meant that a broken ankle was inevitable. She preferred to dance in the observatory, where nobody ever bothered going during the day and even the night.

Aidan pushed a hand back through his messy and dark hair. The Apollo cabin was a gift, and he knew that. Everyone was relatively chill and there was always music that could keep Aidan calm and ground. He had Morgana there, too, which made it impossible for him to ever get locked in his head. "What's your cabin?" Aidan asked, leaning back on his left leg a little bit.

The son of Apollo chuckled a little bit. "I'm sorry. That's not the first part of the whole introduction thing. I'm Aidan O'Kearney. I'm an Apollo kid." Aidan said, offering a hand out to the girl. He would often forget to introduce himself to people. He was ind of forgetful about the fact that not everyone here just knew who he was, like they would have back home.

Aidan took a step back and looked down at his feet. She was right, it was muddy, and his feet were absolutely disgusting. He kind of loved it. He looked up, a bright, white, son of Apollo smile on his face. "Anyone can dance on shiny wood floors and with mirrors that don't hide their faults. It takes a real heart and soul dancer to get down and dirty, but not let that dirt hide their faults." He said, his Irish accent strong.

Aidan nodded at the girl in front of him. "So, bunhead. Do you dance?" He asked, slyly.

"Number twenty nine" She answered, and then added "Minor love gods" just in case he hadn't memorized the cabins past twelve. She could barely keep up with all of the gods and cabins.

Delaney took his hand and shook it, she was surprised that people even shook hands these days. Especially people her age. It was all dabbing. At least that's what she thought, she didn't really meet new people. "Delaney McNamara. Himeros." She said. She recognized his Irish accent. Her mother was always obsessed with her father's Irish heritage. She gave all of her kid's Irish names even though they were all adopted. It didn't really make sense. She found it hard to argue with her mother though.

Delaney nodded, "Ballet. If I tried to dance here I'd end up breaking my ankle and ruining my career." Injuries were one of her worst fears as a ballerina. One wrong move and everything that she worked so hard for could be gone in an instant. They even had seminars at her school on how to deal with the fact that their careers could end so quickly. She couldn't imagine a life without dance. What would she even do? Go into radio like her parents? That was not an option.

The son of Apollo was really glad that she clarified which cabin was number 29. He didn't want to live up to the cliche that the kids of the first 12 cabins only knew those cabins, but it was true. To be honest, Aidan couldn't remember his own cabin number all the time. Aidan looked Delaney over quickly with his shocking blue eyes. "Himeros? Interesting." He said, raising his eyes a little bit. He wouldn't have pegged her as a kid of any of the Erotes, especially Himeros. Aidan shrugged it off quickly.

As Delaney explained her dance world, Aidan scoffed a little, before trying to cover it up with a smile. The smile was cocky though. "Oh. You're one of those dancers who has forgotten that dance is supposed to be fun." Aidan said slyly. Even when saying something that wasn't particularly nice, his words still flowed and were compelling. It was a gift that the Apollo kids almost all shared. "Don't get me wrong, I have a fair bit of ballet background, too. I just, you know, like dancing." Aidan said with a small chuckle. He was aware that he was being a bit conceited about how he felt about dance, but when Aidan has deeply held beliefs, he is a bit pushy with them.

"I guess it's probably not worth asking to see what you've got, seeing as we don't have a pristine dance floor here."

Delaney raised her eyebrows "What?" She questioned, "I don't look like the kid of a love god? And I do have fun, I love ballet and I don't want to jepordize that. Just because I'm not rolling around in the dirt doesn't mean I'm not having fun." Her words sped up as she went on, as they always did. She didn't care to slow down, as long as people got the message they were fine.

"You know what?" She said, throwing her bag onto the ground. She marched into the middle of the clearing, pulling out her phone and playing the first track on it. She was lucky over half the music on her phone was stuff that she could dance to. It was some modern piece with lyrics that made no sense. The choreographers at the studio company loved those kinds of songs.

Even though she hadn't rehearsed this song in ages, each step came naturally to her. She remembered performing it on pointe, but she just settled for the balls of her feet. It was a pretty smooth song, and although it didn't have a lot of turns or leaps, she still liked it. She might've thrown in a double pirouette fouette double attitude in there just because. Sure it was hard doing turns on dirt, but she could make it look effortless. She would have to, since she had just been challenged.

Once the song was done she did a quick bow, "Happy now?"

Aidan scoffed as Delaney marched past him to the center of the circle, mocking flipping his hair as she walked by, rolling his eyes a little bit. Aidan had known plenty of studio girls, and Delaney didn't seem all that different than any of them. Aidan turned around and crossed his arms. He heard her music start from her phone, but could barely hear it. Aidan waved his hand lightly, and the volume increased a bit. Audiokinesis had it's real world benefits.

The son of Apollo couldn't lie, she was really good. Even though it was clear that she wasn't comfortable in the middle of the woods like she was, she was still rocking it. That made Aidan a little mad. He really wanted her to be not that good. Aidan wasn't sure that he was better than him. He groaned a little bit and rolled his eyes. Aidan got really miffed as she actually bowed.

"Happy now?" Delaney said. Aidan could hear in her voice that she was no happier than he was. Aidan sighed a little bit. "You're good. Alright?" Aidan tapped his heal nervously, when he got an idea. There was one way to see if he could keep up with her. Aidan played a song that was a classical/ jazz fusion song off his phone, and it came out the speaker he had set up. Aidan walked up to Delaney and put his hand out. "Dance with me."

Even when she was dancing she could see the annoyed look on Aidan's face. She had to admit that made her a little pleased. How dare he challenge her? Just because she was trained in classical dance doesn't mean that she didn't know how to have fun. And since when did alternative dance automatically become more fun than ballet? She approached him after she finished, pieces of hair that had come loose during her performance framed her face, and she tucked them out of the way.

"Dance with me."

Delaney paused. The smug look on her face dissipated into one of surprise. She half expected him to turn away and never speak to her again, especially because she had been less than kind to him. She didn't expect a proposition to dance.

"What?" she asked, unable to mask her confusion.
Still, she found herself putting her hand in his palm. Suddenly she found herself nervous. Sure, she was perfect when it came to the studio, but that's because she had someone telling her what to do. Everything she danced was well rehearsed and guided by the worlds finest. Now she was expected to improvise. But she had to do it, unless she wanted Aiden to judge her.

Aidan snickered a little bit when he watched Delaney's face fall. It was almost exactly what he'd been hoping for. The only way that it could have been better is if she hadn't taken his hand and just giving up on the spot. That would have been enough proof for him. Still, with the surprise on her face, he felt like he definitely stood a chance here. Aidan smiled his token son-of-Apollo, almost-too-white smile. He felt the passion light up his bright blue eyes. He took a step back, pulling Delaney tight into him. "Hold on tight."

Aidan led Delaney through the dance, simply to start. He had always loved partner dancing, but for a long time lately Morgana was the only person he had to dance with. She refused to follow his lead ever. Morgana was like that with most people, but especially with him. He could feel it in the way that Delaney moved that she knew how best to dance with a partner. That was a bit scary to be honest. What if she really was better than him?

Aidan began to lead Delaney through a more complex rigor as the music sped up. He spun her quicker, and pulled her in tighter, and he cleared his jumps higher. Delaney's feet hadn't left the ground yet. At one of the climactic points in the song, Aidan's hands went to Delaney's waist, ready to lift her, if she was ready to have faith. A comforting and genuinely excited smile was in his face. None of the hostility from before was still there.

And then they danced. She breathed, focusing on the dance rather than who her partner was. The rest came naturally. The slow music flooded her mind, and any doubts she had started to fall away. This wasn't the studio, with it's high ceilings and windows that looked out onto brownstone office buildings and the radiators that would leave scorch marks on any bags left near them. There were no mirrors where she could check her form. She could just dance, and not have to worry about making her technique absolutely perfect.

Then the music sped up, and Delaney could feel her heart beat quicken to match. Still, she carried on, moving with her partner as if they were connected. She had to admit, he wasn't bad. He was easier to dance with than Skylar, who would pause every four minutes to tell her what she was doing wrong or complain about the fact that he hadn't gotten into the Paris Opera Ballet. Even Aidan didn't seem as pretentious as Skylar was.

Delaney felt Aidan's hands go to her waist, and she knew what he was trying to do. Lifts were one of the things she struggled with, though it may not be noticeable to the untrained eye. Her issue was trust, and fear, and being able to actually let it happen. She remembered Madame Melikova repeating "trust, trust, trust." every time she performed a lift. She just had to trust him. She caught a glimpse of Aidan's face, and it was probably the nicest look he had given her since she had met him. She could do this. So, she let it happen.

Once her feet left the ground, the trust was there. Her life was in his hands now.

Aidan felt Delaney's weight shift into his hands. He chuckled a little excitedly. He'd missed this feeling. Aidan felt his muscles tense as he lifted Delaney up above his head, letting her hands fall to his shoulders for a brace, if she needed it. After a second, Aidan dropped his left arm, supporting Delaney by her waist with his right hand. He looked up at Delaney, smiling from ear to ear. He raised his eyebrows and let Delaney fall into his waiting arms.

Aidan smiled down and let Delaney down lightly onto her feet, spinning her slowly around as the music faded, ending in almost the same position they started. Delaney's hand was on top of Aidan's. The son of Apollo bowed slightly at Delaney, the way he was taught in primary ballet. "That was really nice. You're truly a phenomenal dancer, Delaney." He said sweetly in his Irish accent.

Aidan pulled his hand back and pulled his phone out of his pocket. He stopped the next song from playing from the speaker and put his phone back into his pocket. "It was nice to dance with you. It's been a while since I've danced with someone besides my sister."
